A glimpse into the life of the author
Michael spent his life in a state of exploration both intellectual and physical. He sought the lessons of 'experience' and sought the answers to questions that others' were to afraid to ask.

Born in Nelson, New Zealand in 1948, Michael took a degree in psychology and spent a year training as a teacher. At the same time, he maintained an active interest in history, religion and esoterica. In 1973, he embarked on a career as a professional photographer which took him to far-flung spots as Laos and Bolivia. He came to England in 1976 to research a project on the Knights Templar. Shortly thereafter, he met Richard leigh and Henry Lincoln, and became involved in the mystery of Rennes-le-Chateau (this work culminated in their bestselling book The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail.
